New to Monoprice is the offering of PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) filament, which has more flexible strength than ABS filament. It's the perfect filament to combine strength and flexibility, which is why it's used in so many mechanical parts or robotics.

The filament is super transparent with a glossy finish. It has great chemical resistance with good acidic and alkali resistance. The superb chemical resistance is why the FDA has approved PET as acceptable for direct food contact. The filament is environmentally friendly and recyclable. PETG is known for it's transparency and clarity so you’re getting the benefits of both PLA and ABS in PETG.

The nominal print temperature is 230 ~ 250°C (446 ~ 482°F).

Overall pleased with the roll of black PETG I bought. I found 240C hotend and 77C bed worked well.

Strings more than PLA and doesn't bridge well, but I believe these are just qualities of PETG. And of course you'll want to keep it dry!

Good Material Hoping is Becomes Great

I went with PETG because the parts I am printing require a stronger material than PLA. I have had a harder time dialing in my printer (Maker Select Plus) to print it without stringing or blobbing. The material is more flexible without breaking like PLA. The surfaces do look nice if I could just minimize the strings and blobs. I have reduced my hot end to 230 and that seemed to reduce stringing some. I have been very happy with Monoprice PLA and PLA+ and I am getting great prints with these materials. Now if I can just get PETG printing equally nice I???ll be a 5 Star happy customer. I am by no means dissatisfied just taking more time to figure this material out.
